Gua Lou Qu Mai Wan – 栝楼瞿麦丸 – Honey Pearls

Warm the Kidney Yang to eliminate damp-heat and unblock urination to restore urinary function.

Chronic prostatitis due to Kind Yang deficiency with stagnant damp-heat.
Chronic or recurrent UTI due to Kidney Yang deficiency with stagnant damp-heat.

The source text of Gua Lou Qu Mai Wan indicates this formula to be suitable for ‘inhibited urination with water Qi’, especially when there is thirst. Warmth will likely be felt in the abdomen after successful use of this formula, as this formula creates warm water in order to clear the bladder of dampness and restore function.

Qu Mai, an important component of this formula, has demonstrated anti-tumour, anti-oxidant, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and diuretic activity. Gua Lou Qu Mai Wan has been shown to alleviate the symptoms of chronic prostatitis, delay the process of diabetic nephropathy and assist with post-surgical urinary retention.

Modern: Adults: Chew, then swallow 3 honey pearls with warm water twice daily, or as otherwise directed by your health care professional. Each bottle contains 150 Honey Pearls (~25 day supply at this dosage).

Classical: Take three pearls with fluid, three times a day. If no effect is noticed, increase the dosage to seven or eight pearls. Disinhibition of urine and warmth in the stomach can be taken as indicators that the formula is working.
