PCOS 2 - Herbal Rationale

This formula is designed for individuals with PCOS who present with underlying deficiency, particularly of qi, blood, and Kidney essence combined with emotional stress and lingering phlegm-damp accumulation. It supports the body’s deeper resources to regulate cycles, restore vitality, and gradually dissolve cysts.

Key actions and herbs include:
•Shu Di Huang, Dang Gui, and Tai Zi Shen nourish blood, support yin, and tonify qi, helping to restore the body’s foundation and support follicular development.
•Huang Qi and Bai Zhu strengthen the Spleen and augment qi to resolve dampness and improve metabolic function.
•Tu Si Zi and Du Zhong tonify Kidney yang and essence, promoting reproductive strength and stabilizing ovulation.
•Chen Pi moves qi and transforms dampness, aiding digestion and supporting the transport function of the Spleen.
•Zao Jiao Ci is retained in this second-stage formula for its role in breaking down phlegm and dispersing stubborn cysts.
•Suan Zao Ren, Yuan Zhi, and Mei Gui Hua calm the spirit, regulate Liver qi, and address emotional constraint which are common contributors to hormonal imbalance in PCOS.
•Gan Cao harmonizes the actions of the other herbs and supports the Spleen and digestion.

This formula focuses on rebuilding the body’s reserves while addressing the lingering phlegm-damp and emotional stagnation that may perpetuate the cycle of cyst formation. It is typically suited to those who are depleted, anxious, or recovering from long-term imbalance.
